How I teach children to speak English!

Piotrek – 7 to 8 years old – at Primary School

Piotrek is seven years old and is in class 1. He comes to me once a week on Saturday. We practice speaking and pronunciation. He is learning to read and listen to English. His mother or father comes with him and reads a book in my library while waiting for the lesson to end. We practice new words and phrases and we revise the words and phrases he already knows.

Jurek – 9 years old – at Primary School

Jurek is nine years old and is in class 3. He has been coming to me for over a year now. He comes to lessons three or four times a month on a Saturday morning. We practice speaking and pronunciation. He can now read and understand English stories for children. He comes with his elder brother, who also has a lesson with me. His mother brings him and reads a book in my library while waiting for the lesson to end. Jurek has English three times a week at school. At first, he did not do well at school. After a few months of lessons with me, his mother tells me that Jurek takes more interest in his school English lessons and is one of the more active children in the classroom.

Lucyna is eleven years old and is in class 5. She comes to me once a week for speaking practice, reading and listening. She has been coming to me for over a year now. She has English three times a week at primary school. We don't do any grammar. She has enough grammar at school. During our lessons, we concentrate on speaking, reading and listening. When she started coming to me, Lucyna had very low English marks at primary school and was at the bottom of her class at school. Now she is in the top five of her class and she enjoys English at primary school.

Kasia – 13 years old – at Primary School

Kasia is thirteen years old. She has just finished primary school. She comes to me once a week on Saturdays. She has been coming to me for two years now. At first, she did not say much. Kasia likes to read books and chooses classic English literature to read (simplified editions of the original version, of course). Now she is very talkative and likes to talk about literature.

Jacek – 14 years old – at Secondary School

Jacek is fourteen years old. Jacek first came to me in the summer. His parents wanted him to catch up with the rest of his class at school. He came to me three times a week for most of the summer. When school started in September, he changed to one lesson a week. At the beginning, Jacek was quite shy and did not say much. By the end of the summer, he had started to talk. Now, Jacek enjoys speaking with English Native Speakers from all over the world.
